North Carolina Cooperative Extension announces that applications are being accepted for intern positions in select counties across the state, including Cumberland County.

The intern selected for Cumberland County should have a strong interest in horticulture, as well as, an interest in working with youth.

This internship is 10 weeks (May 15-July 26, 2024), and selected interns are required to attend an orientation tentatively scheduled for April 27, 2024, and an Extension intern showcase tentatively scheduled for July 22, 2024.

• We welcome applications from NC State students and students from other institutions, including out-of-state applicants. Both undergraduate and graduate students are invited to apply.

  • Applications from students will be due February 21. Applicants must submit:
    • A list of two references with contact information.
    • A resume that includes the applicant’s major and current GPA.
    • Latest College or University transcript (unofficial transcripts are acceptable).
    • A separate document that lists the specific County location(s) to which the applicant is applying.

  • South Central Exemplary: Catawba, Cabarrus, Cumberland, Iredell, Lee, Montgomery, Rowan, and Union
  • North Central Exemplary: Alamance, Alleghany, Chatham, Forsyth, Guilford, Orange, Surry, and Vance
  • West Exemplary: Burke, Caldwell, Henderson, McDowell, Rutherford, and Transylvania
